Into The Deep by Samantha Young

Into the Deep - Samantha Young

Overall, I thought this book was just ‘okay’. I had high hopes for this 2nd chance type of romance especially from Samantha Young. It started out strong and kind of dwindle after that.

I had several issues with the book.
For starters, it’s not a STANDALONE. There are no crazy cliffhangers but things definitely aren’t resolved. Quite honestly, I don’t think there was any reason to drag this story out.
2nd, Jake, the hero – was a total jackass! He was trying to have the best of both worlds. Come on now, he was supposedly still in love with Charley [the heroine/first love] yet he flaunted his relationship with Melissa around Charley. Why, string Melissa around if you’re still in love with someone else? Cuz’ he a jerk, that's why! He totally played both girls.
3rd: That frekin 2am shit [those who read the book, know what I’m talking about]; That is NOT okay. He knew he had to try and gain Charley’s trust back and he does that? Doesn’t even have the audacity to call her text her back.
4th: Charley seemed weak to me. She just stood there and let Jake trample all over her emotions. I wished she ended up with Lowe instead.

Rock Chick Revolution by Kristen Ashley

Rock Chick Revolution - Kristen Ashley

"Everyone's hooked up, you were the last, and you were boring"

Thank you, Shirleen. I couldn’t have described Ally any better. I had high hopes for this one, considering it’s the last in the series. I didn’t necessarily hate it; I just didn’t LOVE it like I originally thought I would. I probably hyped myself up for this book that it’s my own fault that it didn’t live up to my expectations.

Going in, I already knew that this was Ally’s story but unlike the rest of the series, which focused on the Rock Chicks and their significant others, this revolved solely on Ally. I was disappointed that Ren was barely highlighted in this one. I completely loved all of Ren’s scenes and I wished I got to know more about Ren, not just snippets of him.

RC Revolution seemed to be tamer in comparison to the rest, which I found a little disappointing. It’s probably due to the fact that all the Rock Chicks are getting knocked up, I guess you can’t really expect them to get into too much trouble being pregnant and all. With that being said, I can’t wait to follow Mace’s security team to LA. Bring on the new hot bunch! ;)

Tall, Tatted and Tempting by Tammy Falkner

Tall, Tatted and Tempting - Tammy Falkner

Once in awhile, there comes a book that completely takes you by surprise. Tall, Tatted and Tempting did that to me. The story completely came out of left field. Based on the title alone, I was expecting this book to be real smutty. That wasn’t the case though as this ended up being deeper than that, it was heartfelt, sweet, sad and all types of sexy. The title and the blurb didn’t do this book justice.

Right from the get go, you get drawn into the story and the characters that you don’t even realize how fully vested you are until it ends.

The fact that this was way too short was this book’s downfall. 50% in and the next thing you know it’s “The END”. Apparently, there are two versions of the book: ‘sexy’ and a ‘sexy-lite’ version. There’s no crazy cliffhanger but it does end abruptly with a premise of a HEA. I see great potential for this series. I definitely look forward to the next book. I hope it touches up on where this one ended and hopefully, it'll be Matt's story.

Extra scenes (Tangled, #1.1) - Emma Chase Love Drew & Kate
Mud Vein - Tarryn Fisher How did I not know about this????
Sizzle (Bad Boy Rockers, #1) - Lexi Buchanan WTF? Based on the reviews, did I just read the same book as everyone else?

Tattoos, piercings, muscles all rolled into one hot rocker. Sounds promising, doesn’t it? Yeah, I thought so too.

**Warning: There may be spoilers ahead, however I doubt it since the whole storyline was pretty much mentioned in the ‘blurb’.

Jack, law student & golden boy by day, tattooed rock star by night, is engaged to be married to Mia (whom he doesn’t love), happens to be celibate since his engagement (really?), sees Thalia (his brother’s pretend gf) and instantly is in love. The book centers on his inability to grow balls and fight for what he wants (wouldn’t want him to represent me in court). The whole back and forth shit between “I love you” and “I can’t be with you” got old real fast.

Ugh, I know right?

Not going to lie, there were steamy moments here and there, but everything else fell flat. There was definitely potential for this book to be good, however between the total lack of storyline and connection between the characters, I was left disappointed.

Façade by Nyrae Dawn

Facade (Games, #2) - Nyrae Dawn

Two broken people whose lives are intertwined and connected through circumstance would seem like the perfect recipe for an angst driven love story, right? Unfortunately, it was all just a façade.
A tragic past links Delaney and Adrian together. These two characters are as broken as they come. With all their demons being laid out for the reader, but not to each other, it got depressing and honestly, boring. After the loooooonnnnnnng dragged out build up for the big reveal, there was nothing but disappointment. The ‘supposedly’ twist in the storyline was no big shocker as it was quite predictable. As the majority of the story depicted how damaged these two characters were. It was frustrating to see how rushed everything ended. It would have been good to see their road to recovery.
For the most part, the story seemed to go at such a slow pace that it barely held my interest. By the time the story picked up, sadly to say it was just too late to change my opinion.

Thief (Love Me with Lies #3) by Tarryn Fisher

Thief - Tarryn Fisher

Thief, the title says it all. Caleb Drake stole my heart.

“Peter Pan”

When it comes to Tarryn Fisher’s writing, I’ve always been at a lost for words. This series was a long emotional rollercoaster and the ride finally ends here. I’m still trying to recover and process everything especially after finally getting all the blanks filled [office scene, the birthday present … etc].

What I do know for a fact is that: Tarryn Fisher is an absolute writing genius. This was pure perfection and definitely one of my top favorites

”I’ve never loved anyone after you. I never will”

Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane

Unholy Ghosts - Stacia Kane

I’m not going to lie. This isn’t the easiest book to read. In fact, at first I had a hard time getting through the first half of the book, not because it wasn’t good. Stacia Kane has a way with words that’s different from the typical. In addition, there’s the whole downside lingo that’s definitely a language on its own. I’ve found myself reading several passages over again just to understand what was being said. But once you finally grasp Ms. Kane’s writing and the magical world she created, you’re instantly hooked.
As for the characters, they’re completely flawed with makes them absolutely perfect. Chess, the heroine, is a witch for the church and also a complete junkie. Yet, despite that, there’s just something about her that draws you in. I can’t exactly pinpoint what it is, but I like her.
Oh, and let’s not forget the big bad scary Terrible. He’s basically unattractively described as a scarred up Elvis look-alike gangster yet, as horrible and frightening as they make him appear, he’s a complete gentleman when it comes to Chess. Terrible grows on you and you find yourself rooting for him. Isn’t that something? I can’t help but hope for some type of spark to occur between these two.
I look forward to continuing this series.

Tragic by JA Huss

Tragic (Rook and Ronin, #1) - J.A. Huss

This was a very steamy 'rags to riches' type of love story. No major cliffhangers here (thank goodness). I look forward to see how everything pans out for Rook & Ronin in Manic.

Frigid - J. Lynn, Jennifer L. Armentrout 3.5/5
a definitely a cute 'friends to lovers' story

Come Alive by Karina Halle

Come Alive - Karina Halle

It feels bittersweet to make it this far. I already feel the impending loss with the fact that only two more books remain before the season ends. Yes, I said season (like a tv series, in hopes that there will be a Season 2 of Experiment in Terror).
With that being said, I am glad to have started this series when I did. I probably would have gone bat shit crazy if I started this sooner and had to wait for each book to be released, especially after Lying Season and On Demon Wings.
Come Alive was probably the best point in the series to get fully caught up. It’s completely through Dex’s POV, which I’ve got to admit, is pure perfection. It had the perfect dose of drama and trust me; there was some major drama here. Oh Dex, how I wanted to slap you several times. Thank goodness, you finally came to your senses. I loved this one so much that every page felt 'status update’ worthy plus there’s the fact that I’ve practically highlighted the whole book. And let’s not forget about the ending here … it leaves you satisfied with enough closure that will keep you at bay until Ashes to Ashes comes out.

Oh, and by the way, Chapter 4 … one of the best chapters out there.

P.S.:
Thank you, Kim for encouraging me to read this series and major HUGS to all my GR friends that supported & listened through all my rants. I truly appreciate it.

And With Madness Comes The Light by Karina Halle

And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror, #6.5) - Karina Halle

the last few pages .... left me breathless

LOVED this one.

Into The Hollow by Karina Halle

Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6) - Karina Halle

How the hell does this series get better and better? One would think after six+ books, it would have hit a plateau but not with Karina Halle’s superb writing.

Once again, I had a hard time prying myself off my iPad (no surprise). It was very angst ridden and focused a lot more on the dynamics between Dex & Perry. All I can say without spoiling anything is that Dex 2.0 busts out with some ‘swoon worthy’ comments.

For those who haven’t started this series, you don’t know what you’re missing.

The Dex FIles by Karina Halle

The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror, #5.7) - Karina Halle

Dex … Dex … Dex … I need more Dex!

The Dex-Files? What a tease, I need Dex-Book like right now. I don’t want just snippets of events, I want more. I want it all. I need to know it all. I absolutely loved being inside Dex’s head and it definitely proves that the saying “there’s always two sides to a story” is absolutely TRUE! Seeing his perspective of certain events & his logic of thinking especially that scene from Lying Season just made me view him in a whole different light.

If On Demon Wings didn’t make you a Dex fan, I’m pretty sure The Dex-Files will make you a believer. I officially apologize for, ever having doubts about Dex. I'm on the Dex bandwagon and good luck to anyone who tries to get me off.
